Yourself – Revealed

Big thanks to JD, Karl, D, Flowerpot, Grump,  Ronnie and Hardin for playing along on Thursday’s little quiz.  Your answers are supposed to reveal aspects of your personality and perhaps some of your deeper darker thoughts.

My intention was to just tell you the meaning of the four questions but I thought that would be a tad boring. So you’re all getting a Laney-style psychological profile as well; which in fact says far more about me than it does you! This could turn out to be very long, so I’ll just post the first answer today and the next three over the next three days.

Q1.  Your favourite colour.

This apparently reveals what you think or feel about yourself.

JD.

Colour – Gray

Neutral, pleasing, inconspicuous and calming.

So…you think of yourself as someone who is neither too loud nor too quiet; you don’t want to blend into the background but nor do you want to be the centre of attention. You certainly don’t want any trouble, do you? You’re quite happy sitting on the sidelines and watching what’s going on and if you chose to partake in anything a little out of the ordinary, you wouldn’t want to bring attention to yourself.  I think your favourite colour has changed over the years, Jim, and the eagle has reinvented itself as the butterfly. Gray people are apparetly very hardworking, and I’ll go along with that.

KARL

Colour – Blue

Why not? It’s not red. It’s not green. No Favourites.

Ha! You can’t fool me, Karl! There is no way in this world you are letting someone inside your head. You’re not playing their silly games, not giving anything way, not bowing down to them. You need to be in charge at all times. You love to throw the ball back in someone’s court, love to play mind games, love to take control and show people who’s the boss. Psychology interests you; amuses you. You love to know what makes people tick, you love to crawl inside their skin and push their buttons, but you’re not giving anything back. I think you see yourself as someone amusing, intelligent, stimulating and unconventional.

D

Colour – Blue

Colour of your favourite team and associated emotions. Reminds you of the sky. Your aura colour. Calming.

Some people in this world don’t dwell on days gone by, but I think you do. I think you see yourself as someone who was happier in the past than you are now and you’d like to capture those moments again, or at least the feeling you had back then.  I think you’re a thinker, D, and I think you think about everything. You’re thoughtful and caring; someone who takes time to look at the bigger picture; someone who takes time to react to something. You’re spiritual; you see the beauty in all things, good or bad. You don’t judge. You’re aware of the impact you have on people. You’re a calming influence in a crazy world, always trying to get others to explore the deeper meaning of things and their sense of self. I think you see yourself as someone compassionate, understanding, spiritual and loving.

FLOWERPOT

Colour – Don’t have one. Depends on my mood.

Even though your answer is similar to Karl’s, you did at least give me a reason! I think you’re a strong, independent woman, FP, who is also quite secretive and doesn’t like to reveal too much about yourself. Taking part in the Jeremy Kyle Show would be your idea of hell. The fact that your favourite colour changes along with your mood tells me that the way you see yourself isn’t fixed. I think you have days when you’re really happy with yourself and your achievements and days when you doubt yourself and perhaps need a little encouragement and support. Because you can reinvent yourself on a daily basis I think you enjoy the stimulation you get from being around others – and you certainly get on well with almost everybody.

GRUMP

Colour – Blue

Sky. Sea. Blue Cars. Dark blue shirts.

I think there are some people in this world that could quite happily live in a cave, be at one with nature, and kiss the material world goodbye. There are others who surround themselves with possessions – their idea of wealth being gauged by the enormity of their financial success. And I think, Grump, you sit happily in the middle! You’re a thinker and a dreamer but your feet are firmly on the ground. I think you see yourself as a good all rounder who is able to get on with people from all walks of life; someone who is happy with their achievements and someone who appreciates the beauty of the world around you. I do sense a battle going on inside you when you ask yourself “what is it all about?” but I think you shove this down somewhere deep inside of you and just get on with your life, taking on all of the responsibilities being Grump brings.

RONNIE

Colour – Pink

Makes me happy. Mood lifting. It’s just very me. I have pink bits in my hair.

I see two things straight away, looking at this. First of all; how people see you is important to you….you care about what they think of you. Also, you make a deliberate attempt on a daily basis to look the best you can and feel the best you can. I don’t think this comes naturally to you; I think you need to be surrounded by happy people and nice things to feel the best about yourself. I think you are easily hurt Ronnie…and it doesn’t take much to make your mood plummet. You live your life trying to be happy and playful, bright and breezy, but I think that on occasion this is just an act because inside there is sadness. I think you see yourself as someone fun and energetic, who wants to live life to the full and not only make the best of herself but bring the best out of those around you.

HARDIN

Colour – Black

Goes with everything. Never gets dirty. Slimming. Absorbs heat in winter.

You want an easy, stress free life Hardin, and don’t want to be bothering yourself with, or wasting precious time, on unnecessary chores. There are many more exciting things to be getting on with. You’re very practical and methodical in your approach to things and although you would ideally like to get from A to C without having to go through B, you accept B is there for a reason. But if D showed up, you’d be agitated. I think you care a lot about the way you look and always present yourself very well. I sense a hint of secrecy there – not wanting to give too much away. I think you’re impressive, headstrong, masterful and dignified.

So there you go. What d’ya make of that? Gobbledegook or not?

If anyone is interested, my favourite colour is orange and my reasons are:

It’s bright. It’s warm. It matches my colouring. It reminds me of the past and a favourite pair of orange leggings I had when I was nineteen.
