Behind Closed Doors

book

Well, my book dropped on the mat this morning with a thud.  I sat there and looked at the packaging for a while – desperate to open it but terrified I may have not edited people’s work properly, or that I spelled someone’s name wrong, or that the photographs were going to be dull and dreary. The thought of having to put it all right and upload it all again was too much to handle, so I was rather nervous when I eventually ripped the box to shreds to get my hands on it!

All in all I’m happy with it,  given the time I spent on it.  (The front cover looks better than the pic above – I took it with my camera this morning and over-cropped it!) If I could go back and do it all again (which I could but I’m not going to) I would make a few little changes – perhaps change some fonts and lighten a couple of pictures. However for a first time attempt at a picture and text book, I’m quite chuffed. For those of you who haven’t checked out Blurb, I suggest you do. It’s a fun little programme and can produce some excellent results. You can browse their bookstore and see what other people have created….and if you click  THIS LINK it’ll take you straight to my book where you can preview the first 15 pages and, of course, buy it if you want to. All proceeds are going to the NSPCC in memory of Baby P and all the other children who have lost their lives through abuse. If you do decide to buy the book, Blurb have kindly agreed to free p&p up to the value of £10.00. Just enter NSPCC (no spaces and in caps) into the promo box and remember to click the apply button.

I just want to say that I’ve written this post in order to promote the book as much as I can, however I don’t expect ANY of you to buy it, so please don’t feel pressured. The book has contributions from about thirty different people in it…most of whom want to order a copy, along wih their families.  That in itself will make a few hundred pounds for NSPCC, which although not a great amount, is more than they would have had had we not put this together.

Now, if this was my novel…….lol……you’d have been hit with a full scale promotional campaign!

Seriously, check it out. These kids need as much help as they can get. x
