Ramblin’

EDIT: SCROLL DOWN FOR A LITTLE BIT EXTRA

I’ve just finished reading a book – Goodnight Beautiful by Dorothy Koomson. I’ve read many a book with touching or moving moments in them which have caused my eyes to get a bit watery, but I’ve never read anything which has made great big fat tears roll down my cheeks. Until now.

If I want big fat tears to roll down my cheeks I just have to watch the Pride of Britain Awards which was on the telly last night. And that’s exactly why I didn’t watch it.

Winter is here. The trees were bending over double last night in the wind and the rain. It was horrid.

It’s my first day of work today. The shop fitters have finished and I’m going in to fill it all up with stock. Gorgeous, beautiful, very expensive, silky, beaded, jewelled, shimmery stock. Of which I get 70% discount. Woohoo!

I was thinking I could open an Ebay shop!

My son, Dan, sent me a text at one in the morning telling me that he and Tallis were lying on the bed thinking of me and wanted to tell me that they miss me. How lovely is that? It was well worth being woken up for.

Bugger, it’s raining.

I’ve been reading all of your entries but haven’t been commenting lately. Real life seemed to take over for a while, but I’ll be back on track soon, I promise. Please forgive me! And thanks for all of your comments, too. I read and appreciate them all. x

I have an appointment with the hairdresser on Friday. I have to look perfectly styled in my new job and it takes me about an hour (if not more) to get my current hair from frizz to curl (and even then it looks like shit). That’s far too long. So I’m having it cut and I’m seriously prepared to take it within an inch of it’s life. Any ideas?

Off for a shower and to face the downpour. Hope it’s warmer in your neck of the woods!

For those who commented that they had never seen me with short hair, this extremely cheesy photo was taken about 8 years ago. And don’t laugh!

I could do with some of your frizz in my straight hair that I have to scare into a curl and then keep it that way with a lot of hairspray. Have you considered short hair? Don’t spend all your wages on discounted clothes! Even though you will probably look sexy in them, sigh…

Here’s to a great first day.BR/I would be no help in the how to do up your hair department.

It’s bloody freezing here laney – I’m tempted to light the fire but it’s next door and wouldnt help keep me warm in here! Good luck with the new job – as for hair – how about cutting it off? A sleek bob or something? Not having met you it’s difficult to suggest.

  4. KJ says:

Oh gosh, I love your hair!!!BR/BR/Take a pic if you cut it!!!

  5. Lady in red says:

hope the job works out for you.BR/BR/I find that by having my hair cut in a shoulder length inverted bob I can straighten my curls in about 10 to 15 minutes each morning. It doesn’t stay straight all day but unless it gets wet it goes wavey which isn’t too bad for work. At least I can arrive with it fairly straight.

I have hair with a mind of it’s own…BR/BR/I chopped mine off almost 4 years ago, it took me longer to fix after the fact. I let it grow back and can usually fix it in about 10 minutes. Just throw it up in a clip or pull it back in a ponytail.BR/BR/Have a wonderful first day!

  7. Suldog says:

If you’re going to get rid of those lovely locks on display in the photo here, I’ll cry.BR/BR/Well, OK, I won’t cry. I’m a big he-man person, who doesn’t cry over stuff like hair. But I’d be terribly disappointed. You look ultra-sexy in that picture. Now, I haven’t seen you with short hair; maybe you’ll still look ultra-sexy. But…BR/BR/Now, answer this American a question, please: What are the Pride Of Britain awards? I assume awards for bravery, courage, something along those lines…?

Oooohhh..silky, beaded, jewelled, shimmery ~ 70% discount – sounds dangerous to me! ;) The only time my hair looks halfway decent is the day I go to the hairdresser. I try to pay attention to how she does it but I end up with the brush tangled and stuck and then I usually squirt the hairspray stuff into my eyeball – it’s not pretty!BR/My favorite part of this post is that Dan and Tallis miss you and took the time to tell you – save that text message! Take care.

You get 70% discount? Bloody hell that’s marvelous!BR/BR/Don’t you dare have that beautiful hair cut off, just tie it up with a few loose tendrils.BR/BR/How lovely that Dan and Talis text you to say they were missing you, even if it was in the early hours. That’s the sort of thing our Dan does!

I HAVE NATURAL CURL SO I WANTED TO GIVE SOME OF MY TIPS. IF THEY SELL IT IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS, TIGI MAKES A GREAT LINE OF HAIR STUFF CALLED CURLS ROCK. IT’S IN BLUE CONTAINERS.BR/BR/I’VE ALSO LEARNED THAT THE SHORTER YOU CUT IT, THE LONGER IT TAKES BECAUSE AT LEAST THE WEIGHT OF YOUR HAIR HELPS TAME THE CURL.BR/BR/GOOD LUCK!

  11. Elaine says:

Thanks for all your comments.BR/BR/Suldog – You’re spot on. They’re for bravery and courage.BR/BR/Jenn – Thanks for that – I’ll check it out!

  12. rosiero says:

wow – what a stunner. You seem to suit both short hair and long, so go with what you fancy, though short hair is easier to deal with when you are in a hurry.

  13. Heather says:

You look beautiful!BR/The short hair looks fabulous.BR/I think either way you choose, you’ll look HOT.

  14. East Anglian Troy says:

That’s a lovely photo – when I first scrolled down I thought it was a Hollywood Starlet!BR/BR/You’ll have to change your main photo once it has all been cropped back.

  15. Karl says:

Good Morning Laney,BR/BR/I find a crew cut to be very easy to take care of, it may not be quite your style.BR/BR/Do you remember what you were thinking of when that picture was taken?

  16. SignGurl says:

You are just beautiful no matter the length of your hair!

  17. MarmiteToasty says:

The short hair is great on you. I’m dying to know if that’s what you did. (Maybe it’s above, but I’m catching up.) As for “other” ideas, my only advice is to know you have a good stylist and trust him/her.BR/BR/70% off! Yeah! Open an eBay shop! (But make sure that’s not against the rules and you don’t immediately get fired!)
